Noah's First Circus

We went to a small one ring circus last weekend. We knew it might be a challenge to Noah due to the extra stimulation - mainly lots of non-stop noise. He handled it well at first but he reached his limit about fifteen minutes before intermission. I took him outside until he was comfortable. Then we stood at the edge of the circus tent and watched from afar.

He tolerated the second half a little better than he did the first. He even settled into my lap for a short time. I foolishly let down my guard and received an attack in the face from Noah's hands. Why did he do this? My best guess is it is an anxiety response - you know, fight or flight. Anyway, we were able to work through it and enjoy the rest of the circus. We even got a few smiles and claps from our little guy.

These clowns were pretty funny!
